About the Shell Eco-marathon.
HAN Hydromotive was born out of a desire to take part in the Shell Eco-marathon. But, what exactly is the Shell Eco-marathon? And why is HAN Hydromotive participating in it? We tell you all about it below.
- The shell Eco-marathon is a world-renowned economy race in which international student teams compete to build the most fuel-efficient car in their class.
- The aim of the Shell Eco-marathon is to get students to consider groundbreaking technologies to continuously improve the fuel efficiency of their vehicles. It also, of course, encourages them to collaborate on greener and more efficient energy solutions in the context of the Automotive sector.
- The Eco-marathon works in the following way: First, the international student teams meet at a track in a random region. Each team gets four attempts to achieve the most fuel-efficient result.
- An attempt consists of 10 laps to be completed on the circuit, and these must be driven within 40 minutes.
- During an attempt, the average consumption of the vehicle is measured, and so at the end of the four attempts, each team has one or more results down.
- The best result of each team is then compared with each other, and from this a winner emerges. The team that used energy most efficiently thus wins the Eco-marathon.
- HAN Hydromotive is taking part in this competition because we believe that students play a crucial role in the energy transition, especially in the mobility sector.
- These students learn to deal with energy flows, and gain knowledge of hydrogen, think about vehicle economy. In addition, they learn to work in a performance-driven environment and are actively engaged in making the future a little greener.
